In the first 11 months of last year, 1.495 billion cigarettes were exported from Latvia to other countries, which is 17.581 million cigarettes or 1.2% less than in the same period of 2024, according to summarized data on the turnover of excise goods collected by the State Revenue Service (SRS), LETA reports.
During the same period, 33.219 million cigars and cigarillos were also exported, which is 28.9% less than in the first 11 months of 2024.
Additionally, 138,541 kilograms of smoking tobacco were exported from Latvia in 11 months, which is 25.6% more than in the same period of 2024.
Moreover, 18,118 kilograms of heated tobacco were exported, which is 4% more than in 2024.
The majority of the exported tobacco products were sent to other European Union countries: 1.254 billion cigarettes, 33.107 million cigars and cigarillos, 49,814 kilograms of smoking tobacco, and 18,067 kilograms of heated tobacco.
As previously reported, in 2024, a total of 1.655 billion cigarettes were transferred for consumption in Latvia, which is 85.069 million cigarettes or 4.9% less than in 2023.
