Despite the challenging market situation, the company recorded a noticeable increase in demand for electric vehicles.

Swedish automaker Volvo Car has brought back Thomas Ingenlath as the chief design officer. This was reported by the brand's press service. The 61-year-old specialist will take up his duties starting February 1.

Ingenlath previously held a key position in the design development of Volvo cars and also led the subsidiary brand Polestar. His portfolio includes work on models such as the second-generation XC90, which was the first car produced in collaboration with Geely.

Before that, he worked at Volkswagen. In August 2024, Thomas left Polestar amid personnel changes and has since collaborated with Geely Group as a design consultant.

Ingenlath emphasized that design is a key aspect of Volvo's brand philosophy. He looks forward to starting collaborative work with various teams within the company to create new cars.

The Swedish automaker Volvo Cars summarized the results for 2025, marked by an overall decline in global sales by seven percent to 710,042 vehicles. Despite the challenging market situation, the company recorded a noticeable increase in demand for electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids in the latter part of the year, which allowed for a two percent increase in global sales in December to 75,049 units. Key markets for the brand included China, the USA, the UK, Sweden, and Germany.
