Last year, passengers purchased 63 taxi vouchers at Riga Airport, the airport's press service informed the LETA agency.
At the same time, from April 2024, when the taxi voucher system was introduced at the airport, until the end of the year, passengers purchased 122 such vouchers.
The airport explained that this service is only in demand to a limited extent.
At the same time, the airport emphasized that in recent years, problems in the taxi service sector have significantly decreased, and no complaints from passengers on this issue have been received.
The improvement in the situation was facilitated by a set of measures for monitoring and supervising taxi service providers, implemented by the airport in cooperation with the State Police, as well as the expansion of the availability of ride-sharing platform services. For example, the airport has equipped special pick-up zones for 'Bolt' customers, and car-sharing vehicles are available in long-term parking areas, the airport noted.
The airport also reported that one of the newest services providing passengers with additional convenience in choosing transportation services is the self-service 'Bolt' terminals installed at Riga Airport, which allow passengers to order a ride on the spot without using a mobile app.
Earlier, LETA reported that in April 2024, the sale of taxi vouchers for trips from the airport to the city center and to Pardaugava began at the Riga Airport visitor service center.
The cost of one voucher is 33.5 euros.
Passengers can only use the vouchers in taxis that have received special licenses to operate at the airport. These taxis are located on the first line at the exit from the arrivals hall.
The voucher's area of validity approximately covers the territory in the center of Riga between Krišjāņa Valdemāra, Skanstes, Lāčplēša, and Valmieras streets up to Tallinas street, as well as the area from Kārļa Ulmaņa street to Kurzemes Avenue in Pardaugava.
Previously, the airport indicated that vouchers cannot be used in vehicles of other brands or other carriers.
It was also reported that last year, Riga Airport served 7.111 million passengers, which corresponds to the level of 2024, the airport's press service informed the LETA agency. Compared to the pre-pandemic year of 2019, the number of passengers served at Riga Airport last year was 9% lower.
Riga Airport is the largest aviation hub in the Baltic States.
