As of the beginning of December 2025, the total tax debt in Latvia, including current debts, suspended debts, and payment deferrals, amounted to 829.003 million euros, which is 0.8% more than the previous month but 1.8% less compared to the beginning of the year, according to data from the State Revenue Service (SRS), reports LETA.
As of December 1, 2025, the debt to the state basic budget amounted to 346.627 million euros — 2% more than in the previous month. The debt to local government budgets was 298.407 million euros (a decrease of 0.2%), while the debt for social contributions was 183.969 million euros (an increase of 0.3%).
Current debts, for which late fees are charged, accounted for 65.4% of the total debt — 541.903 million euros.
According to the State Revenue Service (SRS), as of December 1, a debt of 1.629 million euros was recognized as uncollectible — it was formed by liquidated enterprises before the completion of the liquidation process.
According to regulations, the debts considered collectible at the beginning of December amounted to 540.274 million euros, of which debts recognized as actually collectible were 241.189 million euros, and those recognized as actually uncollectible were 299.085 million euros. Of the debt recognized as actually uncollectible, 299.034 million euros had no cash or assets available for collection, while the statute of limitations for collection had expired for 51,400 euros.
Deferrals for debt payments as of December 1 were granted for a total of 73.027 million euros, which is 24.3% less compared to the beginning of the year.
The total amount of suspended debts, for which late fees have been ceased, at the beginning of December was 214.073 million euros — this amount consists of debts of enterprises recognized as insolvent.
As of January 1, 2025, the total tax debt in Latvia amounted to 844.276 million euros.
