At the beginning of next year, all Lidl stores in Latvia will close

After some reflection, the management of the German retail chain prioritized the interests of sellers over the interests of buyers.

For the third consecutive year, Lidl will close all Lidl stores on January 1, 2026. Store staff have been sent home to recover after the New Year's celebration.

Lidl is the first retailer in Latvia to implement the practice of closing stores on New Year's Day starting January 1, 2024. This decision reflects Lidl's approach, which emphasizes the importance of maintaining a balance between work and family, the German retail chain reported.

By the way, more than 1,200 people are employed by the German owners of Lidl in Latvia.

Lidl is not afraid of losing loyal customers who may turn to competitors in search of food, as they might stay there, tempted by better service and lower prices.
