The overwhelming majority of respondents would like the same level of control as in regular stores.

Older people and single-parent families are more likely than others to order goods from online stores outside Europe, such as Temu and Shein. This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the Consumers' Union.

At the same time, young Finns are less active in shopping on such platforms.

Among approximately 1,000 respondents, 31 percent indicated that they had placed orders on Temu. Nine percent ordered from AliExpress, and four percent from Shein.

Single-parent families ordered goods from Temu and Shein more than average. For example, in single-parent families, 46 percent used Temu. Among families with two adults, this figure was 33 percent.

Among respondents aged 65 and older, 36 percent ordered goods from Temu. In the age group of 18–35 years, this figure was 24 percent. At the same time, 70 percent of representatives of this group stated that they had not ordered goods from online stores outside the EU at all. Among all respondents, this was the case for 60 percent.

Women and men showed roughly the same interest in shopping on Temu.

Eighty-five percent of survey participants believe that online stores outside Europe should bear the same responsibility for their goods as Finnish sellers.

The Consumers' Union reminds that goods from foreign online stores often do not meet safety requirements.

The survey was conducted by Aula Research on behalf of the Consumers' Union in September 2025.
