Billionaire Vladimir Potanin has become the richest Russian businessman according to Bloomberg's ranking.

The net worth of 64-year-old Vladimir Potanin — head of Interros and Norilsk Nickel, as well as the banks T-Bank, Rosbank, and Tochka — is estimated at $29.5 billion. The businessman ranked 77th (out of 500) in Bloomberg's billionaire index.

The billionaire owns and manages one of the largest asset management companies in Russia — Interros. Through it, Potanin owns shares in Norilsk Nickel, Rosa Khutor, Petrovax Pharm, and other companies. Previously, Forbes recognized the businessman as the richest Russian in 2015 and 2020. Recently, he became a shareholder in Yandex.

It was recently revealed that Potanin's ex-wife Natalia is suing him again, demanding 400 billion rubles. After their divorce in 2014, she received only 1% of her husband's fortune ($41.5 million), and now she claims 50% of the beneficiary share of Norilsk Nickel's stock, half of all dividends that Vladimir received since 2014, as well as elite real estate in Russia purchased during their marriage for about $150 million. Potanin was married to his wife for 30 years, and they have three children.

In the fall of 2014, Vladimir Potanin married his subordinate Ekaterina, who is 14 years younger than him. The couple leads a private life, but it is known that they have a daughter named Varvara. Interestingly, Potanin plans to donate all his inheritance to charity rather than to his children. He believes that his wealth should work "for the benefit of society."
