How much did Rīgas satiksme earn from passengers and car owners?

The turnover of the Riga municipal company "Rīgas satiksme" for the nine months of this year amounted to 40.98 million euros, which is 2.8% more than in the same period a year earlier, and the company's profit increased to 13.401 million euros, according to the information released by the company.

The income of "Rīgas satiksme" from the sale of public transport tickets for the nine months of this year amounted to 28.133 million euros, which is 3.9% more than in the same period last year, while income from parking increased by 0.5% to 10.185 million euros.

In the management's message to the company's annual report, it is stated that this year's nine-month financial report has been prepared in accordance with international financial reporting standards (accounting), thus, subsidies from the state and municipal budget are included in other income from economic activities, rather than in net turnover.

For the nine months of 2025, the state compensation accrued for the transportation of orphaned children and persons with disabilities of the first or second group on routes where more than 30% of the total length of the route is outside the administrative territory of the city amounted to 6.632 million euros excluding value-added tax (VAT).

The amount of funding received from the Riga municipality budget for the nine months of this year was 98.401 million euros excluding VAT.

For the nine months of 2025, the expenses for the main activities of "Rīgas satiksme" amounted to 125.437 million euros, which is 6.947 million euros less than for the nine months of 2024. The main savings were in diesel fuel expenses - amounting to 1 million euros.

For the nine months of 2024, the turnover of "Rīgas satiksme" excluding subsidies from the state and municipal budget amounted to 39.881 million euros, and the profit was 1.407 million euros.

As reported, the turnover of "Rīgas satiksme" last year, including subsidies from the state and municipal budget, amounted to 193.315 million euros, which is 5% more than in 2023, while the company's profit decreased significantly to 93,608 euros.

"Rīgas satiksme" owns equity stakes in the companies "Rīgas karte" (51%) and "Rīgas acs" (100%). In March 2024, the Riga City Council allowed "Rīgas satiksme" to cease participation in the capital of "Rīgas acs" by liquidating the subsidiary, however, "Rīgas acs" has not yet been liquidated.

"Rīgas satiksme" provides passenger transport by buses, trams, and trolleybuses in Riga, as well as manages parking lots along the streets of the city. The sole owner of the enterprise is the Riga City Council.
