The financial technology sector in Latvia continues to expand. The turnover of the industry is already approaching 400 million euros, and the number of fintech companies is growing. One of the main drivers of development is the investment platforms operating in the European market.
The fintech industry in Latvia continues to maintain high growth rates and is gradually becoming one of the most prominent sectors of the country's economy. According to the Fintech Observatory, at the end of last year, there were 127 fintech companies operating in Latvia, and their number continues to increase, writes Dienas Bizness.
Today, the sector employs more than 3,600 people, and annual tax revenues from the industry exceed 90 million euros. The total turnover of companies is already approaching the mark of 400 million euros.
According to Tina Luse, head of the Latvian Fintech Association, in the next three to five years, the country could establish itself among the leading fintech centers in the region. One of the growth factors is the interest of international companies that choose Latvia as a platform for obtaining licenses and entering the European Union market.
The segment of investment platforms is developing particularly rapidly. By the end of 2025, registered platforms in Latvia are expected to serve around 800,000 investors across Europe, with the total volume of their investment portfolios exceeding one billion euros.
This means that Latvian companies are not only operating in the domestic market but are also competing for clients throughout the European Union.
Among the largest players in the industry are companies such as Mintos, Viainvest, Twino, Debitum, Capitalia, Lande, Indemo, and Nectaro. Many of them continue to actively expand their client base and launch new investment products.
Mintos holds a special place in the industry, regarded by market participants as one of the most successful Latvian fintech stories in recent years. Its development has contributed to the growing interest in investment platforms and has helped attract attention to the Latvian fintech sector at the European level.
One of the fastest-growing companies currently is Debitum. According to company representatives, over the past year, it has managed to nearly double the volume of its investment portfolio.
Market participants believe that Latvia has long held a significant position in the European fintech sector, despite the relatively small size of its economy. If the current growth rates are maintained, the industry could become one of the most significant export sectors of the Latvian economy.
