The most popular winter destinations for the Latvian state airline airBaltic from Riga will be Barcelona, Dubai, London, Munich, Paris, and Prague, airBaltic reported, based on ticket sales data and passenger habits.
airBaltic operates five flights a week from Riga to Barcelona, six to Dubai, up to two flights a day to London, Munich, and Paris, as well as up to six flights a week to Prague.
Representatives of the airline note that this season passengers are choosing warm destinations, nature trips, city tours, and business travel.
This winter, airBaltic offers nearly 60 direct routes from Riga. The airline has also recently launched direct flights to Faro and increased the frequency of flights to Amsterdam and Dubai, providing three flights a day and six flights a week, respectively.
Additionally, summer direct flights from Riga to Pisa and Porto will continue into November. Flights from Riga to Catania will start earlier — at the end of February 2026. The frequency of flights to Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada has also been increased — three flights a week to each destination. In the winter season, airBaltic has begun operating flights between Riga and Dublin — twice a week.
In 2024, the airBaltic group reported audited losses of €118.159 million compared to a profit the previous year.
At the end of August this year, the German national airline Lufthansa became a shareholder of airBaltic. Currently, the Latvian state owns 88.37% of airBaltic shares, Lufthansa owns 10%, and the remainder is held by other shareholders.
The state has been discussing the sale of the troubled airline for several years but is hesitating to list its shares on the stock exchange.
