JSC “Pasažieru vilciens” (PV) sold only 57 out of 114 offered electric train cars at auctions for a total of nearly 612,000 euros (excluding value-added tax), the company's management reported.

At the same time, the TGM-40 locomotive, which had an initial price of 7,120 euros, did not find a buyer.

According to the auction conditions, PV offered ER2 and ER2T series electric train cars — motor, head, and trailer cars (a total of 114 units), as well as the TGM-40 locomotive.

The ER2 and ER2T series electric trains were produced at the Riga Carriage Factory and were intended for suburban and regional passenger transport.

The ER2 cars were produced from 1962 to 1984, while the ER2T was produced from 1986 to 1998 as an improved modification of the ER2.

The TGM-40 locomotive, in turn, was manufactured in 1987. It is a low-power shunting locomotive with a diesel engine and hydraulic transmission.

PV was established in 2001 when domestic passenger transport was separated from the functions of “Latvijas dzelzceļš.” Previously, the company was 100% owned by “Latvijas dzelzceļš,” but in October 2008, it was transformed into a state enterprise.
