Currently, there is a trend in Latvia where an increasing proportion of the unemployed are women, said Evita Simson, the director of the State Employment Agency (SEA), in an interview for the LTV program "Morning Panorama," according to LETA.
According to a representative of the State Employment Agency (SEA), the agency currently has no explanations for the reasons behind this trend.
Simson stated that the unemployment rate in the first half of October remains at 4.7% of the economically active population, with about 41,000 people classified as unemployed.
The lowest unemployment rate is still in the Riga region — below 4%, while the highest is in Latgale, where it remains at around 10%.
At the same time, a significant number of vacancies have also been registered — the most job openings are in construction, retail, and transportation.
