The Turkish Competition Authority fined Adidas 402 million lira (over $96 million) for interfering with the pricing policies of its distributors, Hürriyet reports, citing a statement from the agency.
During an antitrust investigation, it was found that Adidas imposed conditions on stores regarding discounts on its products.
In particular, the manufacturer not only set the amount and timing of price reductions for stores but also restricted the selection of products that could be sold at lower prices. The regulator concluded that such actions limit competition, especially in the online retail sector.
In February 2025, Adidas was already fined in Turkey. At that time, the Competition Board issued a fine of 550,000 lira ($15,000) for violating consumer notification rules regarding the composition of sneakers. In particular, the manufacturer did not disclose the presence of pigskin in them.
In July, Adidas became one of the sponsors of professional football leagues in Turkey. The company signed a three-season agreement with the Turkish Football Federation (TFF). According to the contract, Turkish footballers are obliged to play exclusively with Adidas balls.
