The eccentric South African no longer gives advice to Donald Trump.
Elon Musk, the head of Tesla and SpaceX, has become the first person in history to have a net worth exceeding $500 billion, thanks to the increase in the stock prices of his companies this year.
In addition to Tesla, the valuation of his other ventures, including the artificial intelligence startup xAI and the space company SpaceX, has also risen in recent months. According to the Forbes Billionaires Index, on the evening of October 1, Musk's net worth briefly reached $500.1 billion before slightly decreasing to just above $499 billion.
This milestone further solidifies Musk's status as the richest person in the world, leaving competitors in the global tech sector far behind.
According to Forbes, the second richest person in the world is Oracle founder Larry Ellison, with a net worth of about $350.7 billion.
Ellison briefly surpassed Musk last month after Oracle's stock surged more than 40% due to the company's unexpectedly optimistic forecast for cloud infrastructure and artificial intelligence deals.
Musk's immense wealth is closely tied to his more than 12% stake in Tesla, whose stock has significantly increased this year.
As of trading in New York last Wednesday, Tesla's shares rose by more than 3.3% and have increased by more than 20% since the beginning of the year.
