This weekend, anomalous heat will continue to dominate Europe: warning maps "https://meteoalarm.org/en/live/?t=next24" are colored red in at least France, Germany, Switzerland, Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, and Croatia.

It is expected that by Sunday the situation in France will improve slightly; however, at the same time, the strongest heat is moving from Western Europe to the east. In the Czech Republic and Hungary, temperatures are forecasted to rise to 40 degrees over the weekend. High temperatures are also expected in the Balkans.

In the capital of Hungary, Budapest, despite the anomalous heat, the Budapest Pride parade is scheduled for Saturday, which is expected to draw large crowds. Organizers have advised those most vulnerable to the heat to refrain from attending the event.

In the capital of France, Paris, the pride parade scheduled for Saturday has been postponed. Organizers announced this on Friday. Earlier, the Paris police had requested the cancellation of planned public events over the weekend due to the heatwave. The police stated that they would prohibit events if organizers did not heed the call.

In France, strict restrictions on the sale of alcohol have also been introduced due to the heat.

Although the heat eased slightly in some parts of Western Europe on Friday, tens of millions of Europeans continued to suffer from the heat with temperatures above 30 degrees.

Temperature records continued to be broken. On Friday, Germany recorded the highest temperature in its history — 41.3 degrees, according to preliminary data.

According to national meteorological services, new June heat records were set in the UK and Switzerland. In eastern England, temperatures rose to 37.3 degrees, while in Basel, Switzerland, they reached 38.8 degrees.

In Switzerland, both reactors of the oldest nuclear power plant in Europe, located near the border with Germany, were shut down due to the heat. According to the operator, the water temperature in the river used to cool the Beznau nuclear power plant rose to too high a level.
