Argentina has unveiled the tallest statue of footballer Lionel Messi. The height of the monument to the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner and world champion is 26 meters, reports TyC Sports.
The project was created by sculptor Aldo Beroysa. The statue weighs 70 tons.
Earlier in early June, a 21-meter statue of the Argentine forward was dismantled in Kolkata, India. The reason was complaints about the possible instability of the structure in strong winds.
Lionel Messi is 38 years old. Since 2023, he has been playing for the American team Inter Miami. Before that, the footballer played for the French club Paris Saint-Germain and the Spanish club Barcelona.
With Barcelona, Messi won the Champions League four times, as well as three times becoming the winner of the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup. With the Argentina national team, he won the World Cup in 2022, became a silver medalist in the tournament in 2014, won gold at the Olympic Games in 2008, and twice won the Copa America — in 2021 and 2024.
