An important decision will likely be made on July 18 at the European Council summit.
Finnish President Alexander Stubb suggested that there are "quiet signals" regarding Russia's readiness for dialogue with the European Union about the situation in Ukraine.
He noted that both informal and diplomatic contacts at the European level continue to operate. Furthermore, Stubb emphasized that Ukraine is currently in a significantly stronger position than ever during this war, while the United States is still occupied with resolving the Iranian issue.
– I would like Europe to return to negotiations and restore dialogue. If European institutions cannot do this, a decision will likely be made on July 18 at the European Council summit. It would then be good to create a group of representatives – Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, and a bordering state, such as Poland. There should be an understanding of what Russia's foreign policy and security policy will be in the future. At some point, dialogue needs to be resumed both at the European level and, in the case of Finland, bilaterally.
Meanwhile, Russia is increasing airstrikes on Ukraine.
"Unfortunately, the issue of ballistics remains a problem for us. Of course, they can be intercepted by Patriot systems, and this time out of 34 missiles that flew on ballistic trajectories – Iskander-M/S-400 – only 15 were intercepted – this is quite a high result for an attack of this nature. And out of the Zircons, which also attack like ballistic missiles, we have 5 intercepted missiles – one of the best results for this type of missile," emphasized the head of the communications department of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ignat.
