The White House stated that any manifestations of political violence and the so-called "culture of assassination" deserve condemnation. The U.S. Secret Service and the FBI have not yet provided their own comments, redirecting inquiries to the Park Police, which is conducting the investigation.
The code "8647" has already been at the center of a political scandal before. In May 2025, former FBI Director James Comey published a photo of seashells arranged in the shape of these numbers. After criticism from Trump supporters, the post was deleted, and the Secret Service conducted a review. Comey stated at the time that he did not intend the image to convey calls for violence and was not familiar with such an interpretation of the numerical combination.
The discussion around such symbols has intensified against the backdrop of several incidents related to Donald Trump's security in recent years. In July 2024, he was injured during an assassination attempt at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. Later, law enforcement prevented several other potential threats against him.
