Israeli military announced the discovery of underground infrastructure created by the Hezbollah group in the area of the Beaufort Fortress in southern Lebanon. According to media reports, the object was prepared for military use, and its discovery has already been communicated to Israel's political leadership.
IDF soldiers have discovered underground infrastructure created by the organization Hezbollah for military purposes in the territory of the Beaufort Fortress complex in southern Lebanon.
According to the Israeli state broadcaster Kan, the country's leadership has already been informed of the finding. It is expected that the Israel Defense Forces will publish additional information about the discovered object and its purpose in the near future.
Recall that a few days ago, Israeli forces occupied the area of the Beaufort Fortress and raised the Israeli state flag as well as the flag of the Golani Brigade.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, commenting on these events, stated: "We have returned to Beaufort."
The Prime Minister reminded that 44 years ago, the Beaufort Fortress became a symbol of the heroism of Israeli soldiers, but at the same time a symbol of deep internal divisions in Israeli society.
According to Netanyahu, the current return of Israel to this area has a different character.
"Today we have returned there differently — united, determined, and stronger than ever," emphasized the Prime Minister.
He also called the capture of Beaufort an important stage in the implementation of Israel's new security strategy.
"The capture of Beaufort is a dramatic stage and a dramatic change in the policy we are pursuing," Netanyahu stated.
The Prime Minister noted that Israel is acting in several directions simultaneously, including Lebanon, Syria, and the Gaza Strip, and is also forming security zones beyond its borders to protect border communities.
The discovery of Hezbollah's underground infrastructure under the Beaufort Fortress may become another argument for Israel in favor of maintaining a military presence in the border areas of Lebanon. It is expected that the publication of details about the found object will allow for a better assessment of the scale of the group's activities and the significance of this finding for regional security.
