Modern Iranian drones continue to pose the main danger to American military forces in the Middle East. This was stated by the head of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) Admiral Brad Cooper, noting that Tehran is actively developing high-tech drones with electronic warfare and intelligence elements.
Modern Iranian drones continue to pose the primary danger to American armed forces in the Middle East, stated the head of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) Admiral Brad Cooper.
"We are facing an increased threat from high-tech drones," said the admiral while testifying at a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing.
"They are equipped with jet engines. They have high-tech sensors. They have electronic warfare capabilities. They have electronic intelligence capabilities," explained the head of CENTCOM.
He pointed out that the days of using expensive air defense systems are over.
"Recently, we have been using our own inexpensive one-way strike drones to attack Iran, forcing it to use more powerful and costly weapons," Cooper said.
"Therefore, I can confidently say that we have significantly changed the cost situation. There is still work to be done, but I am satisfied with what we are doing in this regard," he added, without going into details.
In the editorial's opinion, the statement from the head of CENTCOM demonstrates how rapidly drone technology is changing modern military conflicts. Iranian drones are becoming not only tools for reconnaissance and attacks but also an important element of pressure on the American presence in the region, forcing the U.S. to seek cheaper and more flexible ways to counter new threats.
