Lebanese Army Accuses Israel of Violating Ceasefire

The Lebanese Army stated on Friday that Israel has repeatedly violated the ceasefire between the two countries, which officially came into effect at midnight, according to LETA citing DPA.

The Lebanese Army reported that the Israeli armed forces shelled several villages in southern Lebanon and urged residents not to return to the settlements in the south of the country for now.

U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Thursday that Israel and Lebanon had agreed to a ten-day ceasefire that took effect at midnight on Friday. Trump noted that this ceasefire would be observed by the Iran-backed Lebanese Shiite terrorist group "Hezbollah."

Sources in the Lebanese security forces reported that shortly after the ceasefire took effect, artillery shells fell near the coastal city of Tyre. In the village of Harisa in southern Lebanon, a drone hit a car, the sources added.

"Hezbollah" launched several rockets at targets in northern Israel shortly before the ceasefire took effect, and shrapnel from the rockets injured three people. The Israeli Army responded by striking Hezbollah launch sites in Lebanon.
