The U.S. and Iran may resume peace talks as early as this week, U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday, according to LETA citing AFP.
On Tuesday, it was also announced that representatives of Israel and Lebanon, after 'productive discussions' in Washington, agreed to hold direct negotiations between the two countries.
Trump told the New York Post that a new round of negotiations with Iran could take place in Pakistan 'within the next two days.'
On Monday, Trump stated that unnamed Iranian officials had called him, trying to reach an agreement.
Washington is also trying to achieve a cessation of armed conflict between Israel and the Iran-backed Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah, so that it does not disrupt the two-week truce in the U.S. war with Iran.
