Iran May Have Minimized the Strait of Hormuz

Semi-official Iranian news agencies published a diagram on Thursday that apparently indicates that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps placed naval mines in the Strait of Hormuz during the war, LETA reports citing AP.

This was reported by the ISNA agency and the Tasnim agency, which is close to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

The diagram shows a large circle labeled "danger zone" in Persian over a schematic of ship movements. The marked route on the map is the path that vessels used to pass through the strait. According to the agencies, mines were placed there.

The diagram recommends that ships move further north — closer to the Iranian coast near Larak Island, along a route that some vessels used during the war. The diagram indicates dates from February 28 to April 9.

Iran, Israel, and the United States agreed on a two-week ceasefire on Wednesday night, and direct negotiations between the U.S. and Iran are scheduled for the weekend in Pakistan.
