Transit through the strait continues to grow.
An increasing number of vessels are passing through the Strait of Hormuz. On April 1, 16 ships passed through the strait adjacent to Iran, up from 11 the day before, and overall transit through the waters has been rising for three consecutive days, according to a report by the analytics company Windward. On April 2, among other vessels, the container ship CMA CGM Kribi, owned by a French company, passed through the Strait of Hormuz, which is likely the first such case since the onset of the war between the U.S. and Israel against Iran, the consequences of which have effectively led to a halt in shipping through the strait due to attacks and threats from Tehran.
For the first time since the war began, a gas carrier linked to Oman also passed through the Strait of Hormuz. However, despite the observed increase in shipping, analysts note that only a small portion of the traffic has resumed compared to pre-war levels.
