French President Emmanuel Macron commented on the remarks made by U.S. President Donald Trump, who made jokes about his marital life. The French leader called such words "inappropriate" and stated that he does not intend to respond to them.
As reported by BFMTV, Macron made a statement upon arriving in Seoul, where he came for an official visit with his wife.
"This is neither sophisticated nor worthy. I am not going to respond to this; it does not deserve a response," he noted.
Earlier, Trump, expressing his dissatisfaction with NATO allies, mentioned a phone call with Macron and jokingly stated that the French president is allegedly "beaten by his wife" and that he is "still recovering from a blow to the jaw."
The remarks of the American leader provoked a sharp reaction among French politicians.
