Pérez-Oliva Fraga: more than 100,000 Cubans are waiting for surgeries in hospitals.

More than 100,000 Cubans are waiting for surgeries in hospitals due to healthcare issues caused by the U.S. blockade. This was stated by Cuba's Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Oscar Pérez-Oliva Fraga.

"In the healthcare system (...) more than 100,000 people are waiting in line for surgeries, and among them, more than 11,000 are children," the minister said during a meeting with St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov.

Pérez-Oliva Fraga also emphasized that due to American restrictions, problems with water supply and food storage have begun in Cuba.

For the first time since the cessation of oil supplies from the U.S., Cuba's energy system completely failed on March 17. Restoration work continued until March 18.

It was previously reported that Cuba is facing problems in the energy sector. Difficulties with fuel and electricity have become regular since U.S. President Donald Trump imposed the energy blockade on Cuba. Meanwhile, Washington did not allow the country to purchase Russian oil. Moscow obediently recalled its tankers that had previously been sent to Cuba.
