Hungary Claims Threats from German Foreign Ministry Due to Ukraine

Szijjarto stated that the head of the German Foreign Ministry threatened Hungary due to Ukraine.

The head of the German Foreign Ministry, Johann Wadephul, openly threatened Hungary for the country's refusal to unblock a €90 billion loan to Ukraine. This was stated by Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto.

"Today, the German Foreign Minister, without any hesitation, openly, directly, clearly, and very rudely threatened us that if we do not abandon representing Hungarian national interests, if we do not unconditionally block important decisions in favor of Ukrainians, then very serious consequences will follow for Hungary," the minister told reporters after a meeting of the Council of EU Foreign Ministers.

Szijjarto noted that Hungary has no intention of abandoning its position and will block all EU decisions in favor of Kyiv until Ukraine resumes the transit of Russian oil through the Druzhba pipeline. The minister emphasized that Hungary cannot be blackmailed.
