Germany is also shocked by the pace of rising fuel costs.
German car owners are complaining about fuel prices. The German Minister of Finance wants to allow gas stations to raise their prices only once a day. Lars Klingbeil, as reported by Deutsche Welle, considers the current rise in consumer prices for gasoline and diesel in Germany to be unjustified. As the politician stated at the EU finance ministers' meeting in Brussels, for example, transparency requirements for oil companies could be strengthened.
In addition, Klingbeil advocated for a rule that would allow fuel prices to be increased only once a day. According to him, this could be implemented very quickly, without a lengthy legislative process.
"We see that there is artificial price inflation, that the current geopolitical situation is being used to increase profits," Klingbeil said. In his opinion, it is unacceptable to maximize profits at the expense of people who have to drive to work, as well as craft businesses - they also depend on cars and fuel prices.
One of the regions in Germany previously suggested taking a cue from Austria: there, gas stations are allowed to raise prices only once a day - at 12:00. Prices can be lowered at any time.
