Terrorist attacks have been prevented.
Baku announced that Iran was preparing terrorist attacks. Members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps were gathering intelligence in Azerbaijan and planning attacks, stated the Azerbaijani State Security Service.
According to Deutsche Welle, among the targets identified by the IRGC are the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, the Israeli embassy in Azerbaijan, the Ashkenazi synagogue in Baku, as well as the leader of one of the Jewish communities in the country. According to the Azerbaijani special services, three explosive devices were smuggled into the country, and they have been neutralized. Additionally, eight people have been detained for aiding the IRGC.
"Apparently, Iran was trying to implement a very dangerous 'multi-step' operation against our country. But it miscalculated that such games do not work with Azerbaijan and that there will be consequences. Our country has already put its military and border units on high alert.
As noted by the President of Azerbaijan, that is all for now. But there is no doubt that the arsenal of possible retaliatory measures is not limited to combat readiness. And Ilham Aliyev also reminded us of the 'Iron Fist' not by chance. We can only hope that Tehran will draw conclusions and stop playing with fire, which poses the greatest threat to Iran itself," writes the observer of the Azerbaijani portal Minval.az.
