Drugs Found... in Gnomes!

The value of the 'greenery', especially popular at parties, is around 1 million euros.

As reported today by Deutsche Welle, German customs at Cologne/Bonn Airport discovered about 25 kg of ketamine worth 1 million euros hidden in gold-painted garden gnome figurines. The Cologne Customs Office stated that the drugs were found about a month ago during an X-ray inspection of four packages sent from southern Germany to Canada and Australia. Suspicion was raised, in particular, by the legs of the garden gnomes, whose shape had clearly been altered.

Ketamine is considered a drug, especially popular at parties. Its price on the black market is half that of cocaine. In 2025, Cologne customs officials confiscated 1.3 tons of ketamine worth 54 million euros. And at the end of February 2026, they discovered 33 kg of ketamine in the luggage of a 36-year-old British man - a passenger in a Dutch taxi traveling on the highway towards Frankfurt am Main. 30 packages of the drug were wrapped in gift paper.
