A new round of negotiations between the delegations of the USA and Ukraine has started in Geneva regarding the conclusion of the Russian aggressive war and the recovery of the country.
The Ukrainian delegation is headed by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov, while the American delegation is led by the President's Special Envoy, Stephen Whitcoff, and Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner.
As reported the day before by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the meeting will discuss a recovery package for Ukraine, preparations for the upcoming trilateral meeting of the USA-Ukraine-Russia, and details of the prisoner exchange. He also stated that for the first time, Ukraine's Minister of Economy, Yulia Svyrydenko, will attend the bilateral meeting in Geneva.
In turn, Umerov wrote on Telegram that in this round of negotiations, he intends to "together with the economic team of the government" develop mechanisms for "economic support and recovery of Ukraine, tools for attracting investments and long-term cooperation," as well as discuss preparations for the next round of trilateral negotiations involving the Moscow delegation with the Secretary of the National Investment Council of Ukraine, David Arakhamia.
The New Round of Negotiations Between Ukraine, Russia, and the USA Has Been Postponed to Early March
On March 25, Zelensky had a phone conversation with his American counterpart, Donald Trump, during which they discussed the negotiation process between Ukraine and Russia. "We talked about the issues that our representatives will work on tomorrow in Geneva at the bilateral meeting, as well as preparations for the next meeting of the negotiation teams in full format in a trilateral format at the very beginning of March," the Ukrainian president reported on his Telegram channel.
According to Zelensky, he hopes that the next round of meetings between Ukraine and Russia will "allow for negotiations at the leaders' level," and Trump supports such a sequence of steps.
