FT: Russia and Iran have signed a secret agreement for the supply of portable air defense missile systems.
Iran has signed a secret agreement with Russia for the supply of portable anti-aircraft missile systems, reported The Financial Times (FT) citing Russian documents and several sources.
According to the publication, the deal is worth $500 million. The contract was signed by "Rosoboronexport" — the Russian state arms supplier, a delegation from the Russian Ministry of Defense, and representatives from the Iranian Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics (MODAFL).
The agreement obliges Russia to supply 500 portable launchers of the "Verba" system and 2,500 missiles "9M336" over three years. Deliveries will take place in three phases from 2027 to 2029.
Earlier, Iran announced its readiness to send part of its stockpile of highly enriched uranium to a third party, such as Russia. According to WSJ, during discussions about its nuclear program, Iran proposed to suspend uranium enrichment and move part of it abroad.
