Boris Johnson: "The main problem of the West in the context of the war in Ukraine is a 'fundamental lack of resolve.'"
NATO troops need to be deployed to Ukraine right now, stated former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. "If we can have a plan for troop deployment on the ground after the war, after Putin condescends to a ceasefire, then why not do it now?" the politician questions in an interview with the BBC. He emphasized that this concerns non-combat units.
Johnson, as reported by Deutsche Welle, also stated that a full-scale war by the Russian Federation against Ukraine could have been avoided if Western countries had reacted differently to the growing aggression of Vladimir Putin after the annexation of Crimea.
According to the politician, the main problem of the West in the context of the war in Ukraine is a "fundamental lack of resolve." "Putin does not yet believe - or has not yet been convinced - that the West considers a free and independent European Ukraine a priority strategic goal. And until he sees evidence of our resolve, I think he will just continue," he noted.
