U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Thursday that he has instructed federal agencies to begin "investigating and publishing" government documents on unidentified flying objects (UFOs) and aliens, LETA reports citing AFP.
"Given the tremendous interest, I am directing Secretary of Defense [Pete Hegseth] and other relevant departments and agencies to begin the investigation and publication of government documents relating to aliens and extraterrestrial life, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), and unidentified flying objects (UFOs)," Trump announced on his social media platform, Truth Social.
Previously, Trump claimed that former President Barack Obama had allegedly revealed "classified" information about aliens in his statements.
On Thursday, in response to reporters' questions about these claims, Trump stated that Obama "revealed classified information, and he shouldn’t have done that."
The president did not specify what exactly in Obama's statements was classified, but asserted that "he made a big mistake."
When asked what he himself thinks about aliens, Trump said, "I don’t know if they’re real or not."
