On Thursday, February 19, Iran conducted joint naval exercises with Russia in the Gulf of Oman and the northern Indian Ocean. This was reported by The Hill.
"Russian sailors conducted exercises with Iranian forces in the Gulf of Oman and the Indian Ocean aimed at 'improving operational coordination and exchanging military experience,'" the report stated.
According to Rear Admiral of the Iranian Navy Hassan Maqsoudlou, the exercises were aimed at strengthening security and developing sustainable maritime interaction between the countries.
It is also specified that before the start of the joint maneuvers with the Russian side, Iran conducted separate exercises during which five missiles were launched towards the Strait of Hormuz.
