The inaugural meeting of Donald Trump's 'Council of Peace' took place in Washington. Minsk was to be represented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Maxim Ryzhenkov, but did not receive a visa.
The Belarusian delegation did not receive visas to participate in the inaugural meeting of the 'Council of Peace' of U.S. President Donald Trump on February 19. This was reported by the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, writes DW.
"All necessary notifications were sent to the American protocol services in due order, and the documents for visa processing were submitted in advance. However, despite fulfilling all the required procedures on our part, the visas for the Belarusian delegation were not issued," the ministry stated.

Initially, an invitation to participate in the meeting was sent to Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko, the foreign policy service reminded.

The 'Council of Peace' was established at the initiative of Trump and was founded at the World Economic Forum in Davos on January 22. A number of Western countries viewed the establishment of this body with skepticism, believing that it could become a competitor to the UN.
