"Russia may react aggressively to anything."

Poland's President Karol Navrocki stated in an interview with Polsat News that he is a "strong supporter of Poland joining a nuclear project."

Reflecting on the growing international instability and uncertainty in the security sphere, Navrocki said that Poland should start working in this direction "in accordance with all international norms."

"We are a state located directly at the border of an armed conflict. It is well known what the attitude of the aggressive, imperial Russian Federation towards Poland is," Navrocki stated.

When asked about Moscow's possible reaction to the emergence of a Polish nuclear program, Navrocki said that "Russia may react aggressively to anything."

In the spring of 2025, former Polish President Andrzej Duda called on the U.S. to relocate nuclear warheads to his country as a deterrent against Russian aggression. Last year, Poland signed an agreement with France that, according to Prime Minister Donald Tusk, will pave the way for the deployment of the French nuclear missile defense system to Poland.

On September 10, 2025, during a nighttime attack by the Russian army on facilities in Ukraine, 19 Russian drones invaded Polish airspace. The operational command of the Polish Armed Forces classified this as "an act of aggression that created a real threat to the security of citizens." The next day, Poland appealed to NATO for additional air defense systems and drone countermeasures.
