Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev met with U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance in Baku with an honor guard. This was reported by the APA agency, citing correspondents.
"An honor guard was lined up in honor of the U.S. Vice President in the square where the national flags of both countries were flying. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev welcomed U.S. Vice President James David Vance," the journalists reported.
Later, Aliyev invited Vance to talk and discuss the agenda behind closed doors. It was specified that the conversation was brief.
The day before, Vance made a visit to Armenia. There, he signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of peaceful nuclear energy with the Prime Minister of the Republic, Nikol Pashinyan, according to which the U.S. will allocate nine billion dollars to Armenia to help it abandon Russian nuclear energy.
Vance also announced the sale of American drone technology to Armenia for a total of 11 million dollars (9.2 million euros).
On January 26, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Vance would discuss the supply of American defense equipment in Baku.
