Войско Польское привыкло опираться на свою мощь.

With such forces, it’s better not to plan a war with Putin.

The head of Polish diplomacy rejected the idea of creating a European army. Radosław Sikorski commented on the proposals of European Commissioner for Defense Andrius Kubilius, who believes that Europe should have its own army of one hundred thousand people.

"I believe that talking about a federal army is pointless because it is unrealistic — the unification of national armies will not happen. However, we could create, as I call it, a European legion, that is, initially a unit with the strength of a brigade, into which citizens of member states, and perhaps candidates, could enlist, with agreed rules for the use of weapons and funding from the European budget," Sikorski stated.

The head of Polish diplomacy acknowledged that such legions would not be a force capable of deterring Putin, but they could be used in "hot" regions such as North Africa or the Balkans.

Sikorski emphasized that the deteriorating international situation regarding security around Europe makes the idea of creating European legions more relevant than ever.

"I will raise the issue of the need to impose sanctions on refineries that process Russian oil. This would be an addition to the sanctions already in place against the Russian shadow fleet," Sikorski said before a meeting of EU foreign ministers.

Beata Plomecka, the Brussels correspondent for Polish Radio, asked Deputy Prime Minister Sikorski whether he supports Estonia's proposal to impose sanctions on military personnel fighting on Russia's side in the war against Ukraine.

"It is worth considering this issue, although, on the other hand, some of these gentlemen may face charges of war crimes, so perhaps it would be good if they came to our territory," the minister said.
