"Why have we insisted and continue to insist on enriching [uranium] and are not ready to give it up, even if war is imposed on us? Because no one has the right to tell us what we should and should not have," he stated.

Araqchi noted that if the US speaks to Iran with a sense of respect, then Tehran will respond with respect. Otherwise, the diplomat emphasized, the Islamic Republic will respond with force.

Earlier, Abbas Araqchi excluded the possibility of negotiations on Iran's missile program. He added that discussing this topic is not on the agenda "neither now nor in the future."
