Orban: Ukraine's accession to the EU should not even be discussed.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban stated that Ukraine's accession to the European Union (EU) should not even be discussed. He posted this in the social network X.
According to the politician, this event would bring war to the territory of the union and would entail sending a significant amount of financial aid to Kyiv. "The European people do not want to send them that much money and do not want to see them in the EU," Orban wrote. He noted that such a development could be prevented if the leaders of Western European countries are forced to stop supporting this "absurd plan."
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky demanded to find an accelerated path for the country to join the EU due to threats from Russia. He expressed confidence that Ukraine would be able to meet the accession requirements by the end of 2026.
