German Defense Minister Pistorius compared the situation in NATO to a marriage crisis.

The situation in NATO resembles a crisis in a 20-year marriage. The 'divorce' of the alliance was announced by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius in an interview with Redaktions Netzwerk Deutschland (RND).

According to him, people who have been married for a long time inevitably face a crisis of trust. There are two ways to get out of this situation — divorce or fighting for the relationship.

"You can either part ways, or if there is still a common foundation in the relationship, constructively solve the problems," said Pistorius, adding that only Russia benefits from all the disputes within NATO.

Earlier, former NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg suggested that the U.S. could leave the alliance. "Nothing is set in stone, everything can change," he emphasized.
