Several regions of Ukraine and Moldova were left without electricity on Saturday, metro services in Kyiv have been suspended, and much of Chișinău is also without power, authorities from both countries report, according to LETA citing THE INSIDER.

In Ukraine, electricity supply has been interrupted in Kyiv and the Kyiv region, as well as in the Dnipropetrovsk and Odesa regions.

Due to problems in the Ukrainian energy system, part of neighboring Moldova is also without electricity.

According to the online publication "RBKI-Ukraine", in the Chernihiv and Zhytomyr regions of Ukraine, infrastructure has been switched to emergency power sources.

Reports of power outages are also coming from the Sumy and Kharkiv regions.

In Kyiv, metro services have been suspended, and some areas are without heating and water supply.

The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine explained the large-scale power outages in the country as a "technical error".

According to them, this caused the high-voltage power transmission lines between the energy systems of Romania and Moldova, as well as between the western and central parts of Ukraine, to disconnect.

Due to problems in Ukraine's power grids, power outages are also being observed in neighboring Moldova, the Ministry of Energy stated.

The mayor of Chișinău, Ion Ceban, reported that electricity has been disconnected in the capital, traffic lights are not working, and trolleybuses are stranded on the streets of the city.

The Ministry of Energy of Moldova added that the operator "Moldelectrica" is doing everything possible to restore electricity supply as soon as possible.
