Popșoi: Moldova does not rule out holding a referendum on unification with Romania due to Russia's actions.
Moldovan authorities do not rule out unification with Romania and holding a referendum beforehand. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic, Mihai Popșoi, as reported by Telegraph Moldova on its Telegram channel.
"The dangerous approach of Russia to the borders of the Republic of Moldova may lead the authorities to demand reunification with Romania," the diplomat stated.
The day before, Popșoi announced that Moldova would withdraw from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) after denouncing key agreements on joining the organization. A similar statement was made by the Prime Minister of the Republic, Alexander Muțanu, in October 2025 before taking office.
