Greenland's Prime Minister: the use of military force against the island cannot be ruled out.

Although a military attack on Greenland is unlikely, such a scenario cannot be completely ruled out. This was stated by the Prime Minister of the autonomous region, Jens Frederik Nielsen, as reported by The Guardian.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Greenland is part of NATO, and any escalation would have consequences for the entire world. "It is unlikely that military force will be used, but it cannot be excluded," Nielsen said at a press conference in Nuuk.

The politician added that against the backdrop of growing tensions in the Arctic, Greenland has "no doubts" about the need to strengthen its military presence. At the same time, Nielsen dismissed any discussions about ownership rights over Greenland, confirming that the island maintains a good dialogue with the European Union and intends to strengthen these relations.

On January 17, Donald Trump announced the imposition of tariffs on several European countries due to the situation surrounding Greenland. The measures will affect Denmark, Sweden, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and Finland, as well as non-European Union countries the United Kingdom and Norway.
