Alexander Lukashenko signed a document on Belarus's accession to the World Council being created by U.S. President Donald Trump.

The document, a photo of which was published by the Telegram channel "Pul pervogo," states that Belarus is ready to comply with all provisions of the World Council's charter from the date of signing, as quoted by "Meduza."

Lukashenko also called the reports that a billion dollars must be paid to join the World Council "lies."

Belarus has become the first country in Europe to officially join the World Council; on January 20, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates also officially announced its entry into the organization. In total, Trump sent invitations to about 50 countries to join the organization. These included Russia and Ukraine.

France and the United Kingdom have already officially refused to join the World Council. The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the country will also not join the organization.

In response to Paris's actions, Trump threatened to impose tariffs on French champagne and wines.
