Donald’s Doctrine: The Results of the First Year of the White House Chief

Surprisingly, but true: the U.S. president has already done so much or, as his opponents would say, caused so much trouble, that it is hard to believe that Donald Trump has been in office for only a year!

Of course, not everything that Trump promised to accomplish in the first year of his second presidential term was realized, especially in domestic politics (but let American voters worry about that).

The Man Who "Shook the World"

But one thing is indisputable: he truly "shook the world" – in just one year, due to Trump's actions, fundamental changes occurred in global politics, and we will prove this to you.

However, your humble servant would not agree with the assertion of several Latvian experts and politicians that Trump almost destroyed the entire system of world order. You cannot destroy what, de facto, did not exist! It is hardly serious to consider the UN, or more precisely, the UN Security Council, as the foundation of the world order, which has long turned into a pitiful resemblance of the League of Nations before World War II.

And who today still remembers that there are actually two structures of European law and security in Europe – the Council of Europe and the OSCE? It seems that even the clerks of the OSCE – diplomats on pensions with huge salaries – have forgotten what they are doing there in the OSCE!

By the way, on the eve of the first year of his presidency, Trump signed a resolution for the United States to withdraw from 66 completely useless international organizations, in his view, that only waste money, including that of American taxpayers. It is possible that soon other countries, where "Trumpists" have come to power, will follow his example – it is time to close these "feeding troughs."

A Cure for Dependency

However, let’s return to the results of Trump’s work. Let’s start with our Europe.

Trump effectively halted the "dependency syndrome" overnight. Namely: the habit of Western Europe to ensure its security solely at the expense of the military and financial power of the United States. And this is despite the fact that in a number of European countries the standard of living is higher than in the United States!

After Trump’s corresponding démarches, European leaders came to the realization that henceforth, European strategic partners of the United States would have to invest at least in their own security.

Trump made it clear that, at least while he is president, Europeans will not solve their problems at the expense of American taxpayers.

Stopping Conflicts and Wars

At the same time, Trump, using his influence and American potential, took on the resolution of local military conflicts and, by the way, has been quite successful in this area – this includes resolving the conflict in the Middle East, ending the thirty-year standoff between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and stopping the bloodshed in several African countries...

However, the American president did not receive a peace prize for his efforts – some stop wars, while others receive prizes for it.

Mission Impossible?

Yes, in resolving one conflict – in the very center of Europe – Trump has so far achieved little. Of course, we are talking about the war in Ukraine. But even here, Trump was the first among world leaders to at least begin direct negotiations with Russia, and it even came to a draft peace plan...

Whether there will be a success story here is hard to say, but one thing is clear: Trump will not give up and will continue attempts to achieve long-term peace or at least a ceasefire.

A Return to Politics... of the 19th Century?

But even if a miracle happened and Trump managed to end this terrible war, he would enter world history of the 21st century for another reason: he "canceled" the world order that had existed for at least the last three decades, or more precisely, since the end of the Cold War.

The United States under Trump is a country that primarily safeguards its own interests – both geopolitical and economic. And what is significant: to ensure these interests, it is ready for any practical steps – sanctions, tariffs, economic and even military invasion! The most striking example is the recent stunning operation in Venezuela.

And all these, even if justified, outcries regarding international law concern Trump the least. In conditions where international law has long become almost a fiction and does not apply to the strong, the head of the White House has shown that he can not only talk but also act – quickly and harshly. The latest démarche in Venezuela essentially revived the "Monroe Doctrine" – adopted back in 1823 (!), – the strategy of the then president of the United States, which proclaimed the Western Hemisphere as a zone of exclusive interests of the United States, where Europeans and everyone else are barred from entering.

Today, experts are already talking about the "Trump Doctrine," which echoes the Monroe Doctrine, extending the prohibition of interference in South America to Russia and China. At the same time, by the way, these two powers, according to the new U.S. national security strategy, are not proclaimed enemies at all, but rather partners where it is beneficial for America. The new strategy also fits quite well into the "Trump Doctrine."

Does this mean that Trump has destroyed the strategic partnership with Western Europe in the year of his presidency, and NATO has lost all influence and significance? No, he simply made partners... chip in for their own "banquet" and not rely solely on America.

The End Justifies the Means

And one more important conclusion on the first anniversary of Trump’s presidency: if the current head of the American administration has set a goal – as Trump is used to doing in business (otherwise, success in business is simply impossible), then he will pursue that goal. He will pursue it, regardless of what anyone says and what obstacles stand in his way.

This applies to the issue of control over Greenland or more precisely – control over the Arctic. The Venezuelan precedent showed that, if desired, Trump can even "forget" to consult Congress for approval of a military operation abroad.

What Else is to Come?!

Since this is already Trump’s second term, he can act decisively, without holding back. What else is to come! Trump has already turned the world upside down, and the planet Earth will not have to be bored further.

Don’t Speak of It with Malice

On January 7, 2026, U.S. President Donald Trump signed a memorandum on the withdrawal of the United States from 66 international organizations and agreements. According to the White House statement, these structures no longer meet American interests, are wasteful, or ineffective.

The list is divided into two main groups: 31 UN structures and 35 other international organizations. Among the "orphaned" organizations are:

  • UN Framework Convention on Climate Change,

  • Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change,

  • International Union for Conservation of Nature,

  • UN Women,

  • UN Population Fund,

  • UN Human Rights Council,

  • UN Conference on Trade and Development,

  • Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Violence Against Children,

  • UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees,

  • International Development Law Organization,

  • Global Forum on Combating Terrorism,

  • International Cotton Advisory Committee and others.
