The new Prime Minister of the Czech Republic spoke about secret arms supplies to Ukraine

Czech Prime Minister Babiš: the previous government concealed the volume of arms supplies to Kyiv.

Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš accused the previous government of concealing the volume of arms supplies to Kyiv. His words were reported by the newspaper České noviny.

"We knew nothing about the initiative regarding ammunition; they constantly concealed it and hid it in the military intelligence budget. This is not transparent. (...) A total of 17.1 billion [crowns] (about 705 million euros — ed.) was secretly allocated in the Czech budget for armaments; all of this was hidden, everything was top secret," Babiš stated.

According to the Prime Minister, this information came from the director of the Agency for Intergovernmental Defense Cooperation, which coordinates the Czech initiative for supplying ammunition to Ukraine. Former Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala criticized Babiš's statements, emphasizing that public discussion of the initiative jeopardizes the safety of the people and companies involved, as it concerns "arms supplies during wartime with all the associated risks."

Earlier, Babiš stated that the Czech Republic can no longer provide Ukraine with money from the state budget, as it needs funding for social programs. He added that Kyiv will never be able to repay these funds.
