At least 538 people have been injured during protests in Iran.
More than 500 people have died during protests in Iran. According to the U.S.-based human rights organization HRANA, at least 538 people have been killed, including 48 law enforcement officers, reports the Associated Press.
About 10,600 participants in the protests have been detained, human rights advocates claim. Iranian authorities have not provided such information.
It was reported the day before that at least 217 people died in hospitals in Tehran after being shot at during protests in the center of the Iranian capital.
As noted by U.S. President Donald Trump, the situation in the country is extremely problematic. He emphasized that the authorities have lost control over some cities. Additionally, he once again reminded of the harsh response to casualties among protesting citizens.
Protests in Iran began after a strike by entrepreneurs in the capital on December 28 due to the devaluation of the national currency and rising prices and continue to this day.
