Pro-Kremlin leader of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov appointed his 20-year-old son Akhmat as acting Deputy Prime Minister of the region, while also retaining his position as Minister of Sports, reports the online publication Kavkaz.Realii, citing LETA and RFE/RL.
Kadyrov announced the promotion in the Telegram messenger.
He did not specify whether the appointment of his son to the new position was related to the deterioration of his own health.
Shortly before the New Year, media reports emerged that Kadyrov had been hospitalized in Moscow. There has been no official confirmation of this.
In addition to Akhmat Kadyrov, various posts in the Chechen government are held by other relatives of the republic's leader.
In total, about 100 members of the Kadyrov family are connected to the authorities, making him the leader in this regard in Russia.
According to data from the publication Proekt, in second place is Russian President Vladimir Putin, who has more than 20 relatives in leadership positions.
